Map Hike

Use a map of the Caumsett State Park in Huntington to navigate to specific destinations during this moderately paced 5-mile walk from 9:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; bring lunch and water; register at gnparks.org or 516-482-0355.

Fireworks will light up the sky over Hempstead Harbor on Saturday, May 25.

Memorial Day Fireworks

Memorial Day Fireworks and a Commemoration Ceremony with musical entertainment from Beginnings, a Chicago Tribute Band, and The LPs performing songs from the ’70s and ’80s will begin at 6 p.m. at North Hempstead Beach Park; free with $10 parking fee; free for veterans and active duty military with parking pass from North Hempstead with a proof of ID; northhempsteadny.gov or 516-869-6311.

Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink

Enjoy additional public sessions, freestyles and puck shoots at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink before it closes on June 16. Through June 9, Freestyle will be on Mondays from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m.; Puck Shoot on Fridays from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m.; Public Sessions on Sundays from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. For Memorial Weekend, public sessions will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 :30 p.m., 1 to 3 p.m. and 3:30- 5:30 p.m., and Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 3:30-5:30 p.m.; skate rental, $5.

Under the auspices of Charles A. Fowler American Legion Post #160, the annual Great Neck Memorial Day Parade will start at 9:30 a.m. at Susquehanna Avenue and Middle Neck Road and proceed to the Village Green at Beach Road and Middle Neck Road for ceremonies at 11 a.m.; gnparades@gmail.com.

Public Access Television is seeking submissions of original 15-minute scripts with three or four adult characters and one set from LI playwrights for the Norman Hall Memorial Playwrights Project Contest at PATV Playwrights Competition, 1111 Marcus Ave., Suite LL-27, Lake Success, NY 11042 or info@patv.org.
