Troop 10 of Great Neck, New York had a successful week at summer camp at Onteora Scout Reservation in the Catskills in early August. Thirty-three scouts slept in platform tents, ate meals in the dining hall and spent the days mostly outdoors.

Activities they participated in included scoutcraft merit badges such as pioneering and cooking, and waterfront merit badges such as swimming and lifesaving. Activities include merit badges in nature, soil and water conservation, wildlife management, mammal study, reptile study, and indoors with STEM related badges such as robotics and game design.
Younger scouts got instruction in basic scouting skills including knife and ax, map and compass skills, knots and lashing. Evening activities included astronomy, and various outdoor games and campfires. All gained knowledge and skills and were exhausted by the time camp was over Saturday morning.

Troop 10 meets at the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department on 25 Prospect Street on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on school days. If you are interested in joining Troop 10, please contact Dr. Dwight J Rosenstein at djrosenstein@gmail.com.
