Where To Pay General Taxes Before Aug. 10

Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman reminds taxpayers that the last day to pay the Town of North Hempstead 2016 general taxes second-half bill without a penalty is Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016. The U.S. Postal Service must postmark mailed payments on or before Aug.10 to avoid a penalty. By law, office postage meters are not official postmarks. The Receiver of Taxes recommends that taxpayers mailing payments on the last day have their payments hand stamped at the post office to ensure a timely postmark.

The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10. In addition to paying in person at the Receiver of Taxes’ office at 200 Plandome Rd. (Town Hall Annex) in Manhasset, taxpayers may also pay in person with only a check or money order at the following local collection sites:

Monday, Aug. 1, 10 a.m. to noon at Port Washington Parking District, 15 Vanderventer Ave., Port Washington

Monday, Aug. 1, 1 to 2 p.m. at Hector Gayle Roslyn Community Center, 53 Orchard St., Roslyn Heights

Tuesday, Aug. 2, 10 a.m. to noon at Fuschillo Park, Carle Road and Broadmoor Lane, Carle Place

Tuesday, Aug. 2, 1 to 2 p.m. at Yes We Can Community Center, 141 Garden St., New Cassel

Wednesday, Aug. 3, 10 a.m. to noon at Clinton G. Martin Park, Marcus Avenue and New Hyde Park Road, New Hyde Park

Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2 to 3 p.m. at Broadway Park, Broadway & County Courthouse Road, Garden City Park

Thursday, Aug. 4, 11 a.m. to noon at Great Neck Social Center, 80 Grace Ave., Great Neck

Thursday, Aug. 4, 1 to 3 p.m., Michael J. Tully Park, Evergreen Ave., New Hyde Park

Friday, Aug. 5, noon to 2 p.m. at John D. Caemmerer Park, Wentworth Avenue, Albertson

Bring your entire bill with you when paying in person.

To sign up for tax payment alerts, go to the town website and click on the envelope in the upper left-hand corner of the screen, then follow the directions. A reminder will be emailed approximately 10 days before the last day to pay the tax without a penalty.

In addition, property owners may register online for no cost access to their general and school property tax information. For an email payment reminder, visit www.northhempsteadny.gov (click the “Our Government” tab, click on “Receiver of Taxes”, and then click the “Online Tax Information & Payments” link) any time to view, print or check the payment status of your property tax bills. For a convenience fee, property owners can pay their tax bills using American Express, Visa, MasterCard or Discover or by Automatic Electronic Check. Conventional payments via the U.S. mail or an in-person payment will continue to be without any convenience fee or charge.
