In solidarity with women’s events being held across the nation, Temple Israel of Great Neck will be hosting a special Shabbat Talk on Saturday, Jan. 21, that will feature a discussion with Rabbi Abby Sosland.

Building Influence, Holding Power: The Varied Women of Our Tradition will focus on how Biblical women offer our modern society a wide range of models of how we gain influence and mediate our power in the world.

She is the Spiritual Advisor at Schechter Westchester High School where she has taught since 2002, and  conducts High Holy Day services at Town and Village Synagogue in New York City. She has also taught adults around the country, as well as in Canada, Israel, Russia and India.

All are welcome to attend the discussion, which is sponsored by Bracha and Marty Werber, Sisterhood of Temple Israel of Great Neck, Rebecca Yousefzadeh Sassouni and Veronica Bisek Lurvey in the multipurpose room at 12:45 p.m., with an introductory Niggunim led by Cantor Raphael Frieder. Light refreshments will be served.
