Santa Visits Village Green

The family of the late Alert Fire Company Ex-Chief Raymond Plakstis, Jr., continues his annual holiday tradition at the Village Green.

Santa Claus and his friends made their annual visit to the Village Green on Saturday, Dec. 22.

Saint Nick arrived by fire truck, sirens blaring and lights flashing, courtesy of the Great Neck Alert Fire Company.

For many years, Alert Fire Company Ex-Chief Raymond Plakstis, Jr., his wife, Donna, and sons, Tyler and Ryan, organized this special community event.

Sadly, Plakstis passed away on Nov. 30 from a 9/11-related illness, but his family was on hand to continue this annual holiday tradition.

Approximately 135 children met Santa and each child received a Christmas stocking filled with toys and candy.

After Plakstis’s passing, his brother, Thomas P. McDonough, said, “He already ordered this year’s stockings that Santa will hand out to the kids.”
