Aided Case in Glen Head

The Nassau County Police Department reports the details of an aided case that occurred at 11:15 a.m. on July 6 in Glen Head. 

According to police, Old Brookville officers responded to an incident where a male employee, 67, fell approximately 25 feet into a large foundation pit at a construction site located at 162 Linden Lane. The Emergency Services Unit rescue team performed the extrication by utilizing a mechanical hauling system with ropes and a stokes basket. The aided was hauled up the 25 feet safely in stable condition. He suffered injuries to his head and body. He was transported by Nassau County Police Department’s Aviation Unit to a local hospital for medical treatment. 

Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Great Neck

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal car accident that occurred on July 5 at 11:46 a.m. in Great Neck.

According to detectives, a 21-year-old male victim was operating a motorcycle south bound on Cuttermill Road when he got into a collision with a 2004 Infinity, which was exiting the BP gas station. The vehicle, driven by a 66-year-old male, remained at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries by a staff physician. This incident is still under investigation.

Homicide in Massapequa

The Homicide Squad is investigating a homicide that occurred on July 4 at 11:17 p.m. in North Massapequa. 

According to detectives, units responded to West Drive for a radio assignment for shots fired. Upon arrival, they discovered multiple victims had been shot by an unknown individual. Rashawn Cummings, 21, of Hempstead was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other victims, both males, were transported via private auto to a local hospital. They are listed in stable condition. This incident is still under investigation.

Sexual Assault in Westbury

Third Squad detectives are investigating an incident that occurred on July 5 at 5:45 p.m. in Westbury.

According to detectives, while running along the bike path outside Eisenhower Park, Pilgrim Lane and Salisbury Park Drive, a female victim, 18, was approached by an adult male white subject, who was riding a dark-colored mountain-style bicycle. The subject, who is described to be approximately 18-20 years old with short dark hair, wearing a dark blue T-shirt, gray basketball shorts and thin build, passed by the victim on his bicycle and inappropriately grabbed her. The victim then left the area and ran home, while the subject fled on his bicycle.

Shots Fired in Elmont

The Major Case Bureau-Gang Investigation Squad is investigating an incident that occurred on July 4 10:06 at p.m. in Elmont.

According to detectives, Fifth Precinct officers responded to a call for shots fired on Fourth Street. Upon arrival it was determined that a passenger in a black Audi SUV reached out of the window and fired at least one round straight up into the air. The vehicle was traveling Northbound on Fourth Street and turned Eastbound onto Belmont Avenue. There were no injuries or property damage reported. 

There is no description of the occupants of the vehicle involved in this incident.
