Dan’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting service is holding its sixth annual Holiday Pet Food Drive, collecting pet-related items to be distributed throughout the community to members and animals in need through Dec. 22.
Did you know that the average cost of basic food, supplies, medical care and training for a dog or cat living in a shelter is $400 to $700 annually? The community can help contribute to their needs by donating items that their pets no longer need. Dan’s Dog Walking and Pet Sitting will be collecting all pet-related items including, but not limited to, food, treats, leashes, collars, bowls, beds and toys, which will be donated to local animal shelters that can use some help this holiday season.
Last year, the company worked with the nonprofit Rock CAN Roll and collected more than 2,500 pounds of pet-related items, and they would love to collect even more this holiday season.
This year, Dan’s is collecting items to benefit the team at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter in Port Washington and Animal Lovers League in Glen Cove, and are looking forward to spreading some holiday cheer with all of this year’s donations.
