Mary T. Reilly, a resident of Bethpage for 65 years, passed away on June 13, at the age of 95. Mary was born on Oct. 28, 1924 in Pittsburgh to John and Gertrude Bradley. She was raised in Brooklyn, before moving to Bethpage in 1955. Mary is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 28 years, Edward F. Reilly. Loving mother of Edward J. Reilly (Denise), Eileen M. Ryan (Kevin), Kevin T. Reilly (Joni) and Robert W. Reilly (Kim). Private funeral services were held. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc.

EAST MEADOW

Christopher John Hall, “CJ”, 39, of East Meadow passed away on June 15. A 15-year employee of Nassau University Medical Center where he dedicated his life to helping people, especially children. Beloved son of Glenn Hall and Patricia Hall. Loving brother of Elizabeth Hall (Vincent) and Catherine Hall. Adored “Uncle CJ” of Vivi and Cassie, who he loved like his own. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.  A funeral mass was held  at St. Martin of Tours RC Church. Cremation was private. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur F. White Funeral. FARMINGDALE

Therese Ahern (McMurray), 95, lifelong resident of Farmingdale passed away at home with her family by her side on June 21. Tess was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George T. McMurray who settled in Farmingdale in 1922. She is survived by Jeremiah, her devoted husband of 70 years, and her beloved children, Jeremiah, Jr. (Laura), Mary Macchio (Frank), Susan Yskevich (Jeffery), Matthew (Diane), Patrick (Carlyn), Bernadette Bartolotto (Steven), Edward and Monica Lockwood (Bud). She was the cherished “Grandma Tessie” of 20 and great-grandmother of 13. Arrangements entrusted to the McCourt and Trudden Funeral Home in Farmingdale. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Kilian Parish Outreach at 140 Elizabeth St., Farmingdale are appreciated.

Joseph Vincent Belesi, of Farmingdale, a two-time Purple Heart recipient from the Vietnam War, retired Nassau County Police Sergeant, former Superior Officers Association Vice-President and Nassau County Legislator for the 14th District, passed away at the age of 73, on June 16, from Parkinson’s Disease. Joseph, predeceased by parents Joseph and Antonina, leaves behind his beloved wife, Donna; his children: Jennifer Belesi (James), Laurie McLaughlin (Robert) and Christopher Belesi (Caryn). A funeral mass was held at St. Kilian RC Church. Private interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery. Josephine A. Cannataro a lifelong resident of Farmingdale died on June 12. Loving wife of the late Richard. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of the late Richard (Elaine), Rober (Nancy) and Karen Coonan (Bruce). Loving sister of Same Tafaro. Cherished grandmother of Scott, Laura, Brian, Janine, Patrice, Vincent and Gina. Also survived by five great grandchildren. Arrangements entrusted to McCourt and Trudden Funeral Home, Inc.

Angela M. Howell of Farmingdale died on June 18. Loving wife of the late William F. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Cynthia LaPorte. Robert and Donna and Paul and Grace. RoseMarie Oliver of Farmingdale died on June 14. Loving wife of John “Jack” Oliver. Cherished sister of James “Jimmy” and Catherine. Teresita A. Vafeas, 77, passed away on June 6. She was born in Cuba on Feb. 4, 1943. Teresita is formerly of Flushing, Queens; Garden City and most recently Deer Park. Beloved wife of 54 years to Constantine. Loving mother of James Vafeas and Michael Vafeas. Cherished sister of the late Aurelio Hernandez. GLEN COVE

Salvatore Brusca of Glen Cove, on June 17, at age 83. Beloved husband of Emanuela. Loving father of Silvana. Dear brother of Francesco and the late Pietro, Pietra, Girolamo and Giacomina. Salvatore worked for many years at Glen Plaza masonry in Glen Cove. He loved all sports and especially playing soccer. Visiting held at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home of Glen Cove. Mass held at the Church of St. Rocco. Interment in Italy.

Carmen Calderon of Glen Cove died on June 23, at age 90. Dear sister of Catalina and Elias. Loving aunt of Luis Acevedo, Migdalia Acevedo and the late Felix Acevedo. Adored great-aunt of many nieces and nephews. Arrangements entrusted to Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Entombment at Holy Rood Cemetery.

Gary Craner of Glenwood Landing passed away on April 28, at age 77 after a courageous fight with his long illness. A dedicated teacher at North Shore High School for 38 years, often teaching the children of former students, he was also actively involved in athletics as a coach for baseball, bowling and cross country. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Genie, and his two children, son Garren (Carolyn) of Stamford, CT and daughter Gennifer (James) of Agoura Hills, CA. He cherished his grandchildren Alyssa and Kayla Craner and Justin and Gemma Milne and was the dear brother of Joan, Doug, Elizabeth, Muriel and the late Marilyn, and brother-in-law of Linda. A memorial service will be planned in the future at the Sea Cliff United Methodist Church. Details of the memorial service will be announced at a later date. Julia Melgar of Glen Cove died on June 30 at age 97. Mother of Julia (Ruben) and Rosa (Carlos). Sister of Edelira, Mercedes and Nelly. Grandmother of Oscar, Ana, Cathy, Ruben, Yovanah, Diana, the late Yolanda and Edgar. Great-grandmother of Kimberly, Brian, Kacey, Stephanie, Jose, Natalie, Ariella, Rich, Alexa, Yesenia, Giovanni and Jayden. Great-great-grandmother of Jacob, Ava, Max, Alexis, Noah and Mia. Robert P. McEvoy, 91, lifelong resident of Oyster Bay, passed away peacefully on June 21. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ann, and their seven children: Coleen Lerman (Lewis), Robert J. (Debbie), Eileen Harrigan (Mike Martino), Patrick (Ronnie Festa), Maureen Hubert (Charlie), John (Deanne) and Kathleen Tilden (Kevin). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his brother James and survived by his sister Jean Callaghan and brother Edward. Visitation was held at Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Dominic’s RC Church. Interment with military honors at Holy Rood Cemetery.

 

PLAINVIEW

Victoria A. Boccio, passed away surrounded by her loving family June 9 at age of 97. Formerly of East New York, Brooklyn and Woodhaven, Queens; most recently from Plainview. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of more than 50 years, John. Loving mother of Frank (Jeanne), Salvatore (Jacqueline), Maryanne Boshko (Steve) and Michael (Esther). Cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Dear sister-in-law to Frances (Salvatore) and Anna. Also survived by many devoted nieces, nephews and friends. MANHASSET

Lorraine Emma Ripley, a 40-year Manhasset resident passed away peacefully on June 20. Funeral services were held at The Whitting Funeral Home in Sea Cliff and burial took place at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale. Lorraine met and married Thomas A. Ripley on June 24, 1951, and was married for 64 years until Thomas passed on July 2, 2015. Lorraine is survived by daughters Kim Horan and Lynn Lehane (Joseph) and has six grandchildren. Thomas, Karyn, Mary, Lauren, Kayley and Joe. And nine great grandchildren. Thomas, Addyson, Natalie, Jack, Emma, John, James, Aidan and Grayson.
