North Middle Student Wins Poetry Contest

DaniellePoet_072716.ADanielle Gruber, who just completed seventh grade at Great Neck North Middle School, was a winner in the Walt Whitman Birthplace 30th Annual Student Poetry Contest. Her entry, “Ode to an Ever Changing World,” was selected as a winner among the 3,000 poems submitted. Honored at the Walt Whitman birthplace in Huntington station, Gruber is flanked by Robert Pinsky, a former United States Poet Laureate and current Walt Whitman Poet in Residence (left), and Darrel Ford, a Walt Whitman personator.
