North High School is celebrating World Autism Month with various activities to raise awareness, support students and encourage acts of kindness with the theme, “Light Up with Kindness.”
This year, faculty in the North High ACE and Transition programs designed a special autism awareness t-shirt that was made available for staff to purchase. All proceeds from the t-shirt sales benefit the Evan Grabelsky Memorial Fund, established in memory of a North High special education teacher. More than $2,800 has been raised from this event to support scholarship opportunities for students with disabilities.
North High faculty continued to promote small acts of kindness throughout the month of April to demonstrate compassion and support for autism awareness.
World Autism Awareness Month is celebrated each April to increase understanding and acceptance, and foster worldwide support for people with autism.
