Sharon Melamed, a senior at North High School, and Jonathan Arevalo, a senior at South High, will be inducted into the Joseph M. Barry Career & Technical Education Center Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society.

Laurie Harris, principal of BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) Regional Schools & Instructional Programs, said, “These exemplary students have been identified based on a rigorous selection process that included academic excellence, good citizenship, high achievement, outstanding employability skills and exceptional attendance.”

Melamed plans to return to BOCES for her second year of the Dental Assisting program. She also hopes to find part-time employment as a dental assistant. After completing the BOCES program, she plans to attend Nassau Community College. Arevalo will be attending Five Towns College in the fall, to continue his studies in television and film production in the school’s Film/Video Program.
