National Merit Finalists

MeritSixteen seniors from North and South High Schools have advanced from semifinalists to finalists in the prestigious 2016 National Merit Scholarship Competition. These students are among more than 15,000 students who will be considered for some 8,000 Merit Scholarship awards.

From John L. Miller–Great Neck North High School, semifinalists are Albert Aboaf, Olivia Descorbeth and Won Jung.

William A. Shine–Great Neck South High School semifinalists are Tooba Alwani, Emily Bae, Kaitlin Hon, Joshua Lee, Matthew Lee, Winston Li, Robin H. Park, Tanya Roy, Michael Shen, Adam Siegel, Celina Sun, Annie Yang and Michelle Mu Yang.

PSAT scores for these students were among the highest in the state, and their scores on a second examination were as good or better. Having demonstrated exemplary academic performance throughout high school, these students were fully endorsed and recommended by their high school principals. Each student also furnished biographical data and a description of interests, activities, accomplishments and goals.
