Representatives from Metropolitan Commercial Bank’s® Great Neck banking center recently joined with officials from the United Mashadi Jewish Community of America (UMJCA) to celebrate the Bank’s ongoing support of UMJCA’s Great Neck Kosher Food Pantry.
In addition to the bank’s $22,000 donation, representatives from the bank’s Great Neck banking center volunteer several hours every Thursday to help the Pantry stock its shelves with perishable and non-perishable items delivered every week. The UMJCA established the Great Neck Kosher Food Panty in 2020. Today, the Pantry provides essential food and household items to more than 400 families in need in Great Neck and the surrounding communities every month.
“Supporting programs like the Great Neck Kosher Food Pantry represents Metropolitan Commercial Bank’s commitment to developing mutually rewarding, long-term relationships with the communities we serve,” stated Laura Capra, executive vice president, head of Retail and Retail Management of Metropolitan Commercial Bank. “Our partnership with the United Mashadi Jewish Community of America and our support of its food pantry is part of our pledge to be a good neighbor and a trusted resource for Great Neck and the surrounding communities. We look forward to continuing our support of the Great Neck Kosher Food Pantry and its invaluable service to families in need in this region.”
“We’re proud to have Metropolitan Commercial Bank as one of our partners in helping us serve families who are food challenged and in need of basic essential household items due to their economic challenges,” said Jonathan Hazghiyan, president of the UMJCA. “Only with the monetary support of individual donors and organizations like Metropolitan Commercial Bank can we bring hope and care to these families in need. However, with Metropolitan Commercial Bank, more than the monetary commitment makes the bank a special partner for us. The ongoing commitment of volunteer time put in by staff members of the bank’s Great Neck banking center has impressed us the most, and it is the personal connection they have made with our volunteers and the commitment to the families we serve that means so much to us.”
