On behalf of the Great Neck Historical Society, I would like to thank Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, town grant writer Tom Devaney and the rest of the town team for authoring the Stepping Stones Lighthouse Grant Proposal, and Senator Charles Schumer for helping to urge the National Park Service to fund the grant. The $165,000 will help to fund a dock and begin the process of restoration that the lighthouse so sorely needs.

I need to point out, however, that this is just the beginning. It has been estimated that at least $4 million will be needed for complete restoration of the lighthouse. The Historical Society, a 501(c) 3 organization, has embarked on a fundraising campaign to raise the additional monies, and we welcome your tax-deductible contributions. To show our lighthouse some love, please visit www.greatneckhistorical.org and click on the PayPal link, or send a donation to PO Box 234483, Great Neck, NY 11023.

Thank you for supporting the Stepping Stones Lighthouse!
