English Language Conversation

All new speakers of English can join small, informal groups for conversations on various topics in English, facilitated by librarian Barbara Buckley on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at Station. GNL Tech Squad at Main

Learn how to use your iPad or tablet, social media, Microsoft Office and smartphone apps in a small group setting on Tuesdays in January from 1 to 3 p.m. in Main’s small multipurpose room. Movie Matinée at Main

The movie, about Neil Simon’s look at growing up in the 1930s as a poor Jewish boy, will be shown at 2 p.m. at Main.

Consumer Reports Online

A reference librarian will demonstrate the library’s Consumer Reports’ database at 2 p.m. in the Main’s large multipurpose room. Learn how to view product reviews, get up-to-date ratings on thousands of products and read CR’s latest news. Register online or at 516-466-8055, ext. 218/219.

Great Decisions at Main

Join the Great Decisions’ discussion about Refugees and Global Migration, facilitated by librarian Christy Orquera, at 2 p.m. in Main’s community room. The series involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book, watching the DVD and meeting in a group to discuss the critical global issues facing America. Registration is required. Homework Helpers at Main

Kids in grades K to 5 can receive homework help from high schoolers in a group setting on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 22, 24, 29 and 31 and Feb. 5, 7, 12 and 14, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Main. Check in at the large multipurpose room; no registration needed.

Prospective Candidates Search

The library is seeking candidates for two expiring seats on the Board of Trustees and Nominating Committee in the Oct. 28 election. Nominees must be members of the Great Neck Library Association by Oct. 1; 18 or older; residents of the Great Neck School District; and either valid library card holders or registered voters in Nassau.
