Letter: Vote Democrat

This year, party, policy, principle and protection transcend candidate: Vote Democrat.

Susan Collins’s vote for Judge Kavanaugh was the last straw. There will be no reaching across the aisle, no compassion, no inclusion, tolerance, fairness, equality or protecting the planet and our children and grandchildren.

Thomas L. Friedman wrote in The New York Times on Oct. 24, “So, this year: No third party, no Green Party, no throwing up our hands and saying, ‘They’re all bad.’ For today, in these midterm elections, vote for a Democrat, canvass for a Democrat, raise money for a Democrat, drive someone else to a voting station to vote for a Democrat. It’s the only hope to make America America again. Nothing else matters. Pass it on.”

That’s exactly what I am doing and intend to do many more times before Election Day. No more “objective” listening to those who opine that “Hillary is/was a bad candidate.” No more nodding in tacit acknowledgment that “Obama was too prone to compromise so he failed to get things done.” No, no, no; those things may or may not be true, but nothing is as bad as the immorality, venality, viciousness, divisiveness, abasement of power, people and truth over the last two years from the current President of the United States.

Saving the planet for our children and grandchildren will come down to powerful state governors aligned with the courts to push back against the corrupt, money-influenced decisions by this President. Thus, Cuomo, Suozzi, Kaplan, Gillibrand and every candidate on the Democrat side must receive your/our vote.
