The Lakeville Estates Civic Association recently celebrated Earth Day by cleaning up the neighborhood.

The group selected the area surrounding Ridders Pond on Marcus Avenue, cleaning east of New Hyde Park Road and Marcus Avenue to Laurel Drive on both the north and south sides of Marcus.

“Our cheerful volunteer group that included Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso and his wife, Maria, picked up the litter that was stuck in the chain link fence across from Ridders Pond,” said Bill Cutrone, president of the Lakeville Estates Civic Association. “We raked the leaves and other garbage and filled seven large bags of debris. We had a beautiful spring day to give back to the community.”

At the end of the cleanup, all of the volunteers were exhausted, but they were eager to know where the next cleanup project would be.

“The pictures are all encompassing and tells the story of the great job
of our participants,” said Cutrone.
