E.M. Baker School students celebrate their cultural and ethnic diversity each year with various activities during International Week. In keeping with this year’s theme of Folk Art Around the World, a special event was added—square dancing with Pat Cannon’s Foot and Fiddle Dance Company. Throughout the day, each grade level visited the gym to participate in square dancing fun. Parents were also invited to join in. While square dancing is documented to have begun in 17th-century England, in 1982 it became America’s official national folk dance by an Act of Congress signed by President Ronald Reagan.
