Great Neck Social Center Events

Free Programs

• Knit, crochet or create needlework while making friends with others who want to give back to the community by making sweaters, baby caps and lap blankets for little ones and handicapped elders every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Needles will be provided; donations of yarn are welcome. Crafters working on their own project are also welcome.

• Great health chats from Project Independence include Stepping On, a seven-session program that demonstrates ways to prevent falling and stay safe. Come in or call to sign up for the spring session.

• Move to music during Line Dancing with David on Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

• During Games People Play every Wednesday at 1 p.m., enjoy Scrabble, poker and Rummikub, as well as ping-pong and billiards during open free times listed on the bulletin boards in the hall.

Veterans Social Club

Reserve the second Friday each month at 2 p.m. for Veterans Social Club meetings, which are free to vets, their families and guests. Enjoy stimulating programs that start with coffee and a sweet snack, courtesy of Atria Great Neck.

World in Depth

Join an active group of men and women who discuss what’s going on all over the globe every Thursday at 2 p.m. under the guidance of genius moderators, such as Martin Bomser, John Mulvey, Shirley Romaine, Stan Dacher and an occasional guest. There’s no charge to put in your own opinion.

This Is Womanspace

Decades ago, a group of active women began this stellar operation for independence and equality. The group’s Wednesday afternoon discussions flourish, as does its Monday afternoon Memory Writing Class. Stop in to see if you would enjoy becoming a member. Lunch before the meeting makes the time even more lively and stimulating.
