Active Seniors Alert
Since the Senior Center became the Great Neck Social Center, activities have begun to attract the younger set, including the newly retired, those who never knew the center existed and many who needed stimulating activities—things they always wanted to do and finally had the time to try. Activities include all levels of bridge, billiards, dance, ping-pong and art workshops, along with inexpensive trips. If you don’t see an activity that interests you, add your suggestions to the box in the hall.
This Is Womanspace
Decades ago, a group of seasoned seniors began their exemplary operation for independence and equality. As time goes by, they look for and find stimulation on Monday afternoons starting at 1 p.m. in the Memoir Writing class and during Wednesday afternoon discussions at Mind Aerobics. Stop in to see if you would enjoy becoming a member of this with-it women’s group.
World in Depth
Talk about the world, all its problems and what to do about it with savvy seniors on Thursdays at 2 p.m. The discussions get lively and even heated, but Martin Bomser, Stan Dacher, Shirley Romaine, John Mulvey and special guest moderators keep the group on topic. It’s free to add your opinion to the mix.

Browse the ongoing sale in the lobby and save lots of money on handbags, jewelry, fabrics and more. Besides the generosity of seniors who have donated these items, every purchase supports the center.
Adult Ed Classes Galore
View the catalog for great activities in all levels of art, bridge, folk dancing, tai chi and yoga, designed especially for those older than 60 who live in Great Neck. Some classes are free; others are available at a low cost.
Veterans Social Club
Catch up on what every vet could know and have a purely social afternoon on Friday, Feb. 8. Veterans, their families and guests can enjoy coffee, a sweet treat and an entertaining performance for free every second Friday of every month. Phone the office at 516-487-0025 to say you’re coming. The next meeting will be on Friday, March 8.
