Free Activities

The best things in a senior’s life are free at the Great Neck Social Center, 80 Grace Ave., weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you’re older than 60, live in North Hempstead, just retired and don’t know how to utilize your active energy and brain power, take a look at what the center has to offer.

World in Depth

If you’re concerned about what’s happening—or what’s not happening—around the globe, join a group of savvy seniors on Thursdays from 2 to 3 p.m. for lively, and even heated, discussions under the moderation of brainiacs like Stan Dacher, Martin Bomser, Dana Epifran, Herb Lechner and an occasional special guest. There’s no charge to add your opinions to the mix.

Veterans Social Club

Join vets, their families and guests on the second Friday of each month at 2 p.m. for a truly social afternoon filled with stimulation and entertainment. Coffee and a treat are served courtesy of Atria Great Neck.

Womanspace

Hardly girl talk, these seasoned survivors are tuned in to all that active seniors think about, such as films, theater, the latest research on science and health and new ways to get action from congressmen, which they discuss on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. When they hear about something new in the local, state, national or international scene, they get an expert from their many contacts to talk to us about it. For new ideas and friends, see how stimulating and entertaining active seniors can be.
