The Great Neck Library Board of Trustees, Executive Director Kathy Giotsas and staff welcomed Tracy-Lyn Geiser to her new position as assistant director on May 23.

Geiser has a master’s in Library and Information Science from St. John’s University and an Advanced Certificate in Public Library Administration from C.W. Post University. She also holds a BA in Psychology/Criminal Justice from St. Joseph’s College. Geiser has a varied career in the library system. Her most recent position, as of 2012, was that of head of Children’s Services at the Half Hollow Hills Community Library in Dix Hills, where she was responsible for the department in both the Dix Hills and Melville branches.

Some of her experiences as department head included overseeing collection development and budgeting for the Children’s Department, creating publicity and implementing children’s programming including special-needs programming. Prior to her position at Half Hollow Hills, Geiser worked full time as head of Teen Services at the Brentwood Public Library, where she served as supervisor of Young Adult Services, and was responsible for collection development for the Young Adult Department. She has also held part-time positions as a Youth and Family Services librarian at the Hauppauge Public Library and Teen Services librarian at Elwood Public Library.
