Great Neck Cardiologist Arrested


The Nassau County District Attorney’s office reports a drug and assault arrest weapon scheme reportedly involving a Great Neck cardiologist. Acting Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas, Nassau County Police Department Acting Commissioner Thomas Krumpter and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration announced the “joint take-down” of a murder-for-hire scheme allegedly plotted by a Nassau County cardiologist who is also accused of selling assault weapons and prescriptions to controlled substances.

The DA’s office report that three defendants (Dr. Anthony Moschetto, 54, of Sands Point whose office is in Great Neck on Northern Boulevard; James Chmela, 44, of Selden; and James Kalamaras, 41, of Suffolk County) were arrested by Nassau police and federal officials last week, on Wednesday, April 15, and were expected to be arraigned that afternoon in First District Court in Hempstead. Arraignment was to be on various charge,s including conspiracy, criminal solicitation, arson and the criminal possession and sale of weapons and drugs.
