
Grant Toch, one of the six candidates running for Great Neck Public Schools (GNPS) Board of Education trustee on May 16 has pulled out of the race.
Another candidate, Michael Golden, withdrew on Thursday, April 27. Toch withdrew today, Friday, April 28.
Both candidates were running for the board seat currently held by Lawrence Gross, who is not seeking reelection. The remaining candidates for the seat are Nikolas Kron and Jeffrey Shi.
Rebecca Sassouni and Ilya Aronovich are running for the other open seat, currently held by Susan Healy, who is not seeking reelection.
In accordance with New York State Education Law 2018, the Board of Education is now required to reopen the end-date for the filing of nominating petitions until Tuesday, May 9, at 5 p.m. Petitions may be picked up from the Office of the District Clerk at 345 Lakeville Rd., on school days, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The lottery for ballot position for Gross’s seat will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10, in the Office of the District Clerk.
The Board of Education trustee election will be held from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16. Qualified district residents who live north of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) can vote at the Baker School, located at 69 Baker Hill Rd. Residents who live south of the LIRR may vote at South High School, 341 Lakeville Rd. For voter registration and absentee ballot information, call the office of the district clerk at 516-441-4020.
