Nassau County Legislator Ellen W. Birnbaum visited the Nassau County Firefighters Museum & Education Center in Garden City on April 27 for the Nassau County Fire Commission Annual Firematic Awards Ceremony.
Prior to the ceremony, Birnbaum presented citations to the Alert Fire Department, the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department and the Vigilant Fire Company in recognition of their efforts to save a woman who was pinned to her bed due to a fallen tree on her Great Neck home.
The Vigilant Fire Company was also recognized for their efforts to rescue a woman who fell on the railroad tracks by the Great Neck Train Station.
