Community members planted trees in memory of loved ones as the Great Neck Park District kicked off its 100 Trees for 100 Years event at Steppingstone Park on Sunday, Oct. 30, in commemoration of the district’s 100th anniversary.
Some participants spoke emotionally of their loved ones and their connection to the Great Neck community with speeches and photos; it was an emotional day for all who attended.
In addition to tree planting, the Park District offered family activities, such as children’s bulb planting, arts and crafts, music, giveaways, apple cider and more.
Additional trees are available for sponsorship—and they are a gift that keeps on growing and lasts a lifetime. For more information, call 516-482-0355.
