Fatal Car Accident In Great Neck On July 22

Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a fatal auto accident that occurred on Monday, July 22, at 3:08 p.m. in Great Neck.

According to detectives, while facing eastbound on the shoulder area of Grace Avenue near Weigt Court, a 58-year-old male, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic, attempted to enter the travel portion of the road, believed to be making a U-turn and was struck by an eastbound 2019 Volkswagon Tiguan operated by a 29-year-old male. As a result of the collision the 58-year-old suffered multiple trauma injuries, was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced deceased by a staff physician. The 29-year-old suffered non-life threatening injuries and was also transported to the hospital for treatment.

Both vehicles were removed from the scene for brake and safety checks.

The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending family notification. The investigation into this accident continues.

  1. I feel that people in Great Neck drive way tooo fast. I live in Great Neck Plaza and every time I go out to walk, I am almost hit by a car. It’s awful.
