Equivalency Classes Offered At Adult Learning Center

The Great Neck Public Schools Adult Learning Center will be offering preparation classes for English as a New Language (ENL) and Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC), formerly known as GED. Fall classes, which begin on Wednesday, Sept. 21, will be given mornings on Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon and evenings on Mondays through Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m.

A range of English-language classes will be offered, from beginning to advanced literacy.

In preparation for TASC, classes to improve math, social studies, science, reading and writing skills will be available. Once enrolled, students may also choose from a selection of elective classes, such as Conversational English, Crossroads Café and Citizenship, at no additional charge.

Class registration, which must be done in person at the center, will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7, and Thursday, Sept. 8, in the morning from 9 a.m. to noon and in the evening from 6 to 9 p.m.; and in the morning on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon. Preference will be given to Great Neck residents and returning Adult Learning Center students. Be sure to allow two hours to complete the registration process.

The annual, nonrefundable processing fee for classes is $50 for those who live or work in Great Neck, which must be submitted along with proof of residency or Great Neck employment at the time of registration. The nonresident fee is $100. All nonresident students must be a minimum of 21 years old. Payment can be made in cash or by credit card, check or money order made payable to Great Neck Public Schools.
