
A Queens Village man was arrested for criminal impersonation of a police officer on Friday, Aug. 19, at 2:04 a.m. in Lake Success.
According to police, a Highway Patrol officer observed Gurpreet Singh, 34, failing to maintain his lane as he was driving southbound on Community Drive. The officer was able to stop the 2013 Infinity on the ramp entering the Long Island Expressway.
During the investigation, Singh told the officer multiple times that he was a police officer and showed a mini badge. The officer had Singh exit the vehicle to continue the investigation. While questioning the defendant he attempted to grab the officer’s gun twice, at which time he was placed under arrest.
Singh is charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, obstructing government administration, driving while intoxicated, as well as multiple vehicle and traffic violations. He will be arraigned today at First District Court in Hempstead.
