And armed man robbed the Chase Bank at 675 Middle Neck in the Village of Great Neck on Sept. 27, at 9:30 a.m. The Nassau County Police’s Third Precinct Robbery Squad reported that the amount of the proceeds taken are as yet undetermined.

According to the detectives, a surveillance camera shows the alleged subject as an unknown male black with a thin build, about 50 to 60 years old, standing 5’10” to 6’00” tall. The subject is pictured wearing a light colored winter cap, green shirt, blue pants and white sneakers as he entered the Chase Bank that morning. Police report that upon entering the bank, the subject displayed a handgun and verbally demanded money from a teller. Police say that the subject then left the bank with an unknown amount of United States currency (cash) and was last seen walking southbound on Middle Neck Road.

The police further reported that six employees and one customer were present at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.

When the Great Neck Record arrived at the scene of the crime in the Old Village later that morning, several police cars were parked in front of the bank, as well as police cars parked in back of the building and in the parking lot just to the right of the bank. Nassau County police officers and a police officer from the Village of Kings Point were on the scene and approachable but could offer no information, other than acknowledging that a robbery had just occurred. The bank door was locked, closed to customers, but several people could be seen inside, presumably bank employees and possibly police officers.

At press time, no further information was available from Nassau County Police’s office of public information.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. Police assure that all callers will remain anonymous.
