Dr. Pamela Levy and friends will be performing her classic summer opera concert this Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 8 p.m., at the gazebo in Firefighters’ Park as part of the Village of Great Neck Plaza’s 2016 Summer Concert Series.
“Our annual opera night is always one of our most popular shows of the summer,” said Mayor Jean Celender. “Dr. Levy, in her role at Great Neck South High School, has educated and trained many talented singers, many of whom have gone on to perform all over the world. We’re delighted Dr. Levy will once again feature her current and former students in what stands to be a riveting performance in Firefighters’ Park.”
Levy, a longtime Great Neck resident, is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where she received a BM and MM as a piano major, and a DMA from the Manhattan School of Music. Dr. Levy teaches at William A. Shine Great Neck South High School in the Performing Arts Department, where she directs the choir; teaches opera, piano and chamber music; and is the coordinator of NYSSMA for Great Neck Public Schools. She also teaches at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege, where she is the conductor of the Manhattan Chorale.
In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to the Great Neck Social Center at 80 Grace Ave. Visit www.great neckplaza.net or call 516-482-4500 after 5 p.m. to find out whether the concert has moved indoors.
