CheckSouth Middle seventh-grade students in Diane Caplain and Gail Keyes’ homeroom classes, putting social responsibility into action, raised $400 through donations and bake sales to benefit Philippine victims of the typhoon that devastated millions on Nov. 8, 2013.

One student related his family’s personal experiences with the typhoon, making the need for aid real and relevant to the students.
