South High School’s winning Science Olympiad team

After winning first place in the Nassau West Regional, Great Neck South High School’s Science Olympiad Team A took fourth place on the state level, competing against more than 600 teams. Beating out every Nassau County team for the first time, this is the best the Olympiad Team has performed since its inception in 1986.

Team members include Angela Chi, president; Kelley Chiu; Yiqing (Elissa) He, captain; Lynn Hlaing; Elliot Horowitz; Jacqueline Liao, captain; Allan Lee; Robin Shum, treasurer; Yujia Su; Jennifer Wang; Annie Yang; Melody Yang, vice president; Michelle Yang; and Jaysen Zhang, captain.

Olympiad coach/science teacher James Truglio calls this year’s team, “incredible, led by the most amazing president, Angela Chi.” Other Olympiad coaches are science teachers Abby-Jo Brighton and Sepideh Roozdar.
