Spirits_052715AOn Friday May 15, the Great Neck Spirits wrapped up their 21st season with a night of fun and bowling. The Great Neck Spirits is a Special Olympics basketball team coached by Alan Somek, Ed Fernback, Diane Polland, Jordana Cohen, Laurie Rubin-Haber, Jackie Mazur and Stacey Parisi. High school students from Great Neck North, Great Neck South and Manhasset volunteer at each practice to teach the athletes basketball skills and drills. This year the team recognized Ronnie Meyer and Josh Namigohar as the MVPs of the season as well as North High School seniors Jared Kossover and Daniel Petersen as volunteers of the year. When asked about his experience over the years, Jared Kossover remarked that it has been the best five years of his life.
