chargeMercy Medical Center installed one of the first publicly accessible electric vehicle charging stations in the St. Anne’s Building.

Thanks to a $1 million grant to Leviton from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and a partnership with Melville-based Leviton, local residents and hospital visitors now have the benefit of this environmentally sustainable resource.

The new station can charge two vehicles simultaneously with its level 2 charging ports, which enable fast charging of any SAE J1772-compatible electric or hybrid plug-in vehicle.

“We look forward to seeing drivers using the dual-port charging station,” said Chief Administrative Officer Aaron E. Glatt, MD. “A healthy environment is key to improving the health of our community.”

The public can register with www.chargepoint.com to use the station free of charge.
